Our session on September 24, 2024, will focus on gingival recession. The meeting will start at 5:30 with dinner provided by Stonehouse Catering.
Gingival recession is a common finding in dental patients. Should they be concerned? How and when should monitoring versus treatment be considered? This module will review various causes of gingival recession and explain why patients should be concerned. Participants will be encouraged to discuss how they speak with their patients about gingival recession and its significance. Methods for classification of gingival recession and how they might impact treatment options as well as outcomes will be reviewed. After completing this module, participants should feel more comfortable speaking with patients about gingival recession and have a better understanding of treatment options and their expected results.
Educational Objectives:
- Identify risk factors and causes for gingival recession
- Discuss methods for monitoring gingival recession
- Describe how to measure gingival recession in simple and complex situations
- Review methods for classification of gingival recession and how they relate to expected outcomes of various treatment options
